We saw signs of increased disinformation and its harmful effects early on and are now concerned about AI tools falling into the wrong hands. We see the erosion of trust, as well as of digital trust. It is not a marginal problem anymore; it is affecting our societies, businesses and economies. We have been working on how to solve the misinformation challenge since 2015. Initially, this effort began as a three-year research project led by co-founder Vinay Setty, evolving into an ambitious tech startup in 2021.
We have yet to see the tech giants do something about this. However, it is not likely in their business interest - for many, disinformation is profitable, leading to more traffic, engagement and ad revenue.
